Music Videos!

I love watching music videos!!!!! When I find a new fave song I get really excited that it might have a music video. I'll list some of my faves here!

Carnival - Natalie Merchant

This song is amazing!! So beautiful, yet haunting... This song has a beautiful melancholy to it. Ms. Merchant is also gorgeous, of course.

Black Velvet - Alannah Myles

I think I have a serious crush on Ms. Myles. She's just gorgeous and her voice is so powerful... I first heard this song thanks to Jujubee's haunting lipsync back on season 3 of RPDR. Seriously incredible performance, you can watch it here. (I have RPDR to thank for introducing me to many great songs lol)

Hold Me Now - Thompson Twins

I've always loved this song -- I had a really long phase in high school where I pretty much only listened to 80s music, and I still love it to pieces -- and I really love the simplistic but fun set in this video, and also watching all the band players play the different instruments is super cool. Sometimes less is more I guess!

I Ran (So Far Away) - A Flock Of Seagulls

Super cool music video - again a pretty basic set, just mirrors, but it does all it needs to do. Plus some like hilariously goofy costumes. I kind of want to make one for myself.

He's Always Down for Something - Slater

Slater's a musician I've been keeping me eye on for a bit now. Honestly I don't like most of his music, but he had a couple of songs (including his collaboration with my current fav, Enjoy!!) that I really loved. Thankfully it seems like his music is continuing to move in a direction I'm liking!! I love the ska stanky skater punk with the grainy music video! It feels deeply 90s and I fucking love that. Really cool shit and I'm looking forward to more. Hoping an instrumental of this gets released at some point!

No Scrubs - TLC

It has Lefteye's verse. What more can you even say?? Lots more. The Y2K aesthetic is gorgeous and perfect and RIGHT, the costumes are perfection, the song is amazing. I just wish it wasnt censored lol but it's fine. I also don't love all the lil "hahah, uh uh, no scrubs" interjections Lefteye's doing over the whole song, but I guess the album version and MV both have their strengths. Again. Lefteye's verse.:)

Fall In Love - Phantogram

I LOVE THIS MUSIC VIDEO. It matches the vibe of the song so PERFECTLY, and the song itself is just brilliant. Sarah Barthel's voice is just genius, my GOODNESS. And the synth is just amazing. This song does have some flashing lights in it though so be careful!

strong> Ashes To Ashes - David Bowie

I only really started listening to David Bowie in earnest after watching Venture Bros. and seeing how deep a reverence the showrunners had for the guy. Anyway, I totally didn't get the cold open of Ghosts of the Sargasso until like my fifth watch (it's one of my favorite episodes). Anyway, my goodness, I like this video. It's just a feast for the eyes and ears.

circle the drain - Soccer Mommy

I love this song a whole lot. I listened to this song on loop during some of the worst months of my life, so it means a lot to me. The music video has a deep message about how the only way to pull yourself out of a downward spiral is to make peace with your flaws and allow your loved ones to lift you up ... it also has skateboarding!
